Beautiful light engineered for exposure to the real world.

Wet Light Systems is a patented illumination platform that rethinks how decorative light is powered, protected, and experienced in wet and demanding environments.

By encapsulating the electrical interface and separating environmental protection from decorative design, Wet Light enables chandeliers, pendants, sconces, strings, and portable luminaires to exist where traditional lighting systems fall short.

What we set out to create with Wet Light Systems

  • IP66 pressure wash certified lighting
  • IP68 submersion validated and capable
  • Low-voltage architecture
  • Modular lamp and socket platform
  • Designed for hospitality, architectural, marine, wellness, and decorative applications

Wet Light Innovation Story

"Wet Light Systems was born because I needed a solution. Now, there is no other light like it.” - Founder, Steve Selak

Origin Story

Chandeliers in the Trees

During the pandemic shutdown, founder Steve Selak imagined illuminating California gathering spaces with suspended chandeliers floating through trees, gardens, and open-air environments. Existing lighting systems made this surprisingly difficult.

Traditional decorative lighting required compromises:

  • bulky weatherproof enclosures,
  • exposed extension cords,
  • visible gasketing,
  • oversized fixtures,
  • or environmental limitations that disrupted the atmosphere entirely.

Wet Light Systems was created to rethink the problem from the inside out.

Instead of treating water as an obstacle to protect against externally, Wet Light encapsulates the electrical interface itself to fundamentally change how decorative luminaires can exist in exposed environments.

A New Lighting Architecture

Wet Light is not a bulb. It is a platform.

Wet Light Systems is a unified electrical and mechanical architecture designed to simplify decorative lighting in environments exposed to water, humidity, pressure washing, and immersion.

At the core of the platform is a patented encapsulated lamp-and-socket interface engineered for:

  • dust-tight protection
  • powerful water exposure
  • temporary or continuous immersion
  • elegant integration into decorative luminaire footprints

Wet Light enables designers to bring interior decorative aesthetics outdoors with minimal visual compromise.

About the Founder

Wet Light Systems began with a simple and persistent idea from founder, Steve Selak

Steve Selak, Founder

Why should decorative lighting disappear the moment environments become wet, exposed, or difficult?

A longtime Hollywood comedy and music agent, Steve Selak approached lighting differently than a traditional engineer or manufacturer. His perspective began with atmosphere, emotion, and experience first. He imagined chandeliers suspended through trees, warm candlelit outdoor events, and elegant evenings existing naturally within California’s open-air gathering culture.

But every path toward achieving that vision introduced compromise.

So, Steve began experimenting.

How Wet Light is Helping Designers

Today, Wet Light Systems has grown into a user-led platform spanning hospitality, architectural, event, marine, wellness, and decorative lighting applications.

With each new use case, we hold onto the original vision that inspired Wet Light.

Beautiful light should not be limited by the environment around it.

From workshop concept to live installation.

Wet Light Systems has been deployed in hospitality and event environments where traditional decorative lighting approaches create safety, aesthetic, and logistical challenges.

At the 53rd Annual ANNIE Awards in Los Angeles, Wet Light chandeliers were suspended throughout a mature ficus tree canopy to create a floating candlelit atmosphere for more than 1,200 guests.

Using low-voltage battery power, the IP66-rated systems installation minimized exposed cabling, eliminated many of the logistical compromises and improved the aesthetic experience of traditional outdoor decorative options.

The result was atmospheric, cinematic illumination designed for real-world hospitality environments and challenges.
